Overview

About Brave

Brave Software makes the Brave privacy browser, which blocks ads and trackers by default, as well as Brave Search and Brave Wallet. Brendan Eich (creator of JavaScript and co-founder of Mozilla) and Brian Bondy co-founded it in 2015. Brave says its browser has more than 120 million monthly active users.

Crypto payments

How crypto payment works at Brave

When you visit a website or creator registered with Brave Creators, a blue checkmark appears on the BAT icon in the address bar, and you can send a BAT contribution from the Brave Rewards panel. You can use BAT earned from Brave Ads or bought elsewhere. On-demand contributions go instantly to the creator; other contributions are paid out monthly.

Accepted cryptocurrencies

  • BAT

Brave Rewards contributions to creators are made in BAT, the Basic Attention Token. Rewards payouts can arrive as bridged BAT on Solana. The Brave Creators page also says creators can add a crypto address to receive crypto contributions, but it does not name which coins.

Good to know before you pay

  • Brave Rewards is available on desktop (Linux, macOS, Windows) and Android. On iOS it can only be used to support creators.
  • Creators register a website, YouTube, Twitch or social accounts (X, Reddit, etc.) at creators.brave.com and connect a partner account to receive BAT.
  • Brave earns a nominal fee on creator tips made through Brave Rewards.
  • Payout account support varies by region.
