Crypto payments

How crypto payment works at Namecheap

You can't pay an order with crypto directly. You first top up your Namecheap account balance (Dashboard > Top-up, then choose BitPay or BTCPay) and then use that balance to buy domains and other products. Top-ups can be $1 to $100,000, and the invoice must be paid within a 15-minute window. Funds usually show up within about an hour (up to 24 hours), after six confirmations for Bitcoin.

Accepted cryptocurrencies

  • BTC
  • ETH
  • BCH

Top-ups go through BitPay (Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, Ethereum 'etc.' per Namecheap's article; the full list depends on BitPay) or through BTCPay (Bitcoin only, any Bitcoin wallet).

Good to know before you pay

  • Crypto top-ups via BitPay and BTCPay are non-refundable.
  • The minimum crypto top-up is $1.00, compared with $5.00 for cards and PayPal. The maximum is $100,000.
  • BitPay asks for ID verification on payments of $3,000 or more. Those payments must be made from a BitPay wallet.
  • You pay the BitPay/BTCPay invoice within 15 minutes, and the exchange rate is locked only for that window.
